In
August of 1997 I broke my left ring finger very badly. When I came
out of my cast in September of 97 I could not move my fingers, my
wrist, my arm or my shoulder and was in excruciating pain.
The
orthopedic surgeon sent me to physical therapy and to a neurologist.
I was diagnosed with RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). A very
rare, extremely painful disease that affects 5% of injured people.
The prognosis was poor as there is yet no known cure. The physical
therapy only made my condition worse, the neurologist's pills almost
killed me, the orthopedist surgeon blamed my injury instead of himself
and I was left feeling extremely frightened and in terrible pain.
I then decided to seek alternative means. I started massage therapy
and acupuncture which helped me feel more emotionally positive and
then began to see John Carroll in December of 1997. Within a month
of the imagery work with John my shoulder became unfrozen. Two months
later (approx) my arm and wrist had much more mobility. By the spring
of 98 the pain level became manageable. I could now move my thumb
and one finger. The other fingers are still stiff but better. RSD
causes temperature sensitivity, rapid hair growth, nervousness,
pain, etc, etc. As long as I do my imagery work 3 times a day I
can function fairly well. I do still see John to get recharged and
to add additional imagery. Thanks to John I really have a handle
on the RSD. The neurologist said that I would have to live the rest
of my life on narcotics for the pain and that the RSD would spread
from limb to limb and affect all my organs.
I
am grateful to John and his extraordinary work. He has and continues
to be physically, spiritually, and emotionally incredibly helpful
to those who work with him.
